Why Should Episcopalians be Concerned?

Here are a few areas that should concern Episcopalians:

The Episcopal Church says, "To some people the 'born again' definition of what makes a good Christian is too strict" ("Religion: What Path to Take?" by Susan Melander, The Texas Episcopal Churchman, June 1985, p. 17).

The Bible says, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3). "And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life" (John 6:40). "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God" (I Peter 1:23).

The Episcopal Church says, "Those whom we call 'saints' are those, who, we believe have been made perfect by God in heaven" (What Anglicans Believe by David L. Edwards, p. 55).

The Bible says, ". . .to the saints at Jerusalem. . .to the saints which dwelt at Lydda. . . when he called saints and widows" (Acts 9: 13, 32, 41). "To all. . .beloved of God, called to be saints. . .and all the saints which are with them" (Romans 1:7; 16:15). ". . . to the saints which are at Ephesus (Ephesians 1:1).

The Episcopal Church says that the church leaders are called "priests" (What Anglicans Believe by David L. Edwards, p. 101).

The Bible says, in regards to those born-again, "Ye also, as lively stones, are a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ" (I Peter 2:5)

The Episcopal Church says that its clergyman/clergywomen can carry the title of "Reverend". (Recognized terminology)

The Bible says that "reverend and holy is his (God's) name (Psalm 111:9).

The Episcopal Church says that it is alright for women to enter the pastorate (The Texas Episcopal Churchman, September 1985, p. 6; Church and Society Social Policy of the Episcopal Church, Executive Council and General Convention, December 1967-April 1979, p. 275).

The Bible says, "If a man desire the office. . .the husband of one wife. . .he must have a good report" (I Timothy 3).

The Episcopal Church says of the crucifix, "In some cases he (Jesus Christ) is shown in royal garments" (Looking at the Episcopal Church by William Syndor, p. 16).

The Bible says, "And they spit upon him (Jesus Christ), and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they mocked him, and they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him" (Matthew 27:30-31).

The Episcopal Church says that the "Prayer Book has been revised eight times" (Looking at the Episcopal Church by William Syndor, p. 31).

The Bible says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever" (Hebrews13:8).
